About Us

Muskingum is experiencing continued growth -- with the 2011 dedication of Otto and Fran Walter Hall (www.zanesvilletimesrecorder.com/.../Muskingum-University-proud-new-music-education-building), which houses world languages, the PLUS Program, and state-of-the-art music facilities; in 2004 of Philip and Betsey Caldwell Hall; and the 2008 opening of the Walter K. Chess Center.

Muskingum offers a wide range of undergraduate and interdisciplinary majors, including nursing, engineering, science and digital media design; numerous pre-professional programs, three master's degree programs (Master of Information Strategy, Systems and Technology; Master of Arts in Teaching; Master of Arts in Education), and the Muskingum Adult Program.

The university's mission is to develop -- intellectually, spiritually, socially and physically -- whole persons, while fostering critical thinking, positive action, ethical sensitivity and spiritual growth.

Founded in 1837 by Presbyterians of Scotch-Irish descent, Muskingum continues to be associated with the Presbyterian Church (USA) and takes its church-relatedness very seriously, offering courses in religion and philosophy and a full complement of religious-life programming. The University's commitment to the region is exemplified by strong partnerships, including its role as a catalyst for economic development and tourism.
