About Us

The Animals Shelter Society, Inc., became incorporated in 1959. The mission of the shelter is to provide care for the abused, neglected, abandoned and/or homeless animals in the Muskingum County Area. The shelter provides adoption services, low cost spay and neuter services, low cost wellness vaccine clinic, microchipping, community education, community networking, appearances at schools, civic community organizations and assisted living visits. All animals that enter the shelter receive medical care, are altered and microchipped before they leave for their forever homes. The shelter is an Adoptable No – Kill shelter therefore, the shelter does not euthanize due for space or length of time an animal remains in the shelter.
The shelter operates as a private non-profit and relies on the support of the community. The shelter receives no government entity funding.
